Hierarchical H2 Control of Large-Scale Network Dynamic Systems

چکیده
Standard H2 optimal control of networked dynamic systems tend to become unscalable with network size. Structural constraints can be imposed on the design to counteract this problem albeit at the risk of making the solution nonconvex. In this paper, we present a special class of structural constraints such that the H2 design satisfies a quadratic invariance condition, and therefore can be reformulated as a convex problem. This special class consists of structured and weighted projections of the input and output spaces. The choice of these projections can be optimized to match the closedloop performance of the reformulated controller with that of the standard H2 controller. The advantage is that unlike the latter, the reformulated controller results in a hierarchical implementation which requires significantly lesser number of communication links, while also admitting model and controller reduction that helps the design to scale computationally. We illustrate our design with simulations of a 500-node network.

Solving infinite horizon optimal control problems of nonlinear interconnected large-scale dynamic systems via a Haar wavelet collocation scheme
We consider an approximation scheme using Haar wavelets for solving a class of infinite horizon optimal control problems (OCP's) of nonlinear interconnected large-scale dynamic systems. A computational method based on Haar wavelets in the time-domain is proposed for solving the optimal control problem. Haar wavelets integral operational matrix and direct collocation method are utilized to find ...
متن کاملAccess control in ultra-large-scale systems using a data-centric middleware
The primary characteristic of an Ultra-Large-Scale (ULS) system is ultra-large size on any related dimension. A ULS system is generally considered as a system-of-systems with heterogeneous nodes and autonomous domains. As the size of a system-of-systems grows, and interoperability demand between sub-systems is increased, achieving more scalable and dynamic access control system becomes an im...

In recent years, underactuated nonlinear dynamic systems trajectory tracking, such as space robots and manipulators with structural flexibility, has become a major field of interest due to the complexity and high computational load of these systems. Hierarchical sliding mode control has been investigated recently for these systems; however, the instability phenomena will possibly occur, especia...

State estimation is the foundation of any control and decision making in power networks. The first requirement for a secure network is a precise and safe state estimator in order to make decisions based on accurate knowledge of the network status. This paper introduces a new estimator which is able to detect bad data with few calculations without need for repetitions and estimation residual cal...
متن کاملGraph-theoretic Methods for Networked Dynamic Systems: Heterogeneity and H2 Performance
This chapter aims to develop a network-centric analysis and synthesis framework for certain classes of large-scale systems, namely, those with linear dynamic subsystems that interact with other subsystems via an interconnection topology. In this direction, we first examine the role of heterogeneity in the observability and controllability of such networked systems. We then proceed to parameteri...
